Circular Port of Rotterdam - Smartport Summit 2023
For the survival of the port of Rotterdam, the transition from a linear to a circular economy is essential. We must use (scarce) raw materials and materials more efficiently. Only in this way can we achieve the desired CO2 reduction of 55% by 2030 and be completely CO2 neutral by 2050. To achieve these goals, companies, governments and knowledge institutions need to work together.
What are we going to do?
During the SmartPort Summit, we set to work converting abstract ambitions into concrete opportunities and actions for the port of Rotterdam. We will ensure that you leave with a new perspective and are inspired by current, circular practical examples from the port of Rotterdam.
In addition, be inspired by two interesting speakers: Prof Michael Braungart, circular expert and co-founder of the 'Cradle-to-cradle' concept will speak about his vision. In addition, Roy op het Veld, journalist and leading author will give us insight into the complexity of the climate issue, the influence of geopolitical developments and their effect on society and business. Of course, there will be plenty of room to catch up with old acquaintances and meet new contacts.
Scaling up to a fully circular port
The Port of Rotterdam already has many initiatives in the field of circularity, for instance in the maritime manufacturing industry, the raw materials transition and in the logistics sector. But what is really needed to scale up to a fully circular port? What should Rotterdam focus on? What are the opportunities and challenges? And what knowledge is still missing? Enough questions to tackle during the SmartPort Summit!
